The whiskey market is highly competitive, with numerous brands offering similar products. For a newly established boutique whiskey maker like Maguire Whiskey, differentiating itself from established names such as Jameson, Bushmills, and Teeling Whiskey is challenging. The brand needed to create a unique identity that resonates with both local and international audiences, balancing traditional Irish whiskey-making heritage with a modern twist. (This project was part of a MSc in Creative Digital Media).
Challenge
Craft a brand identity that transcends the typical whiskey experience. By positioning itself as a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art, Maguire Whiskey aims to offer an immersive experience that goes beyond just a beverage. This strategy involves emphasizing the brand's connection to Dublin’s history and creative spirit, thereby attracting a sophisticated audience that appreciates both quality and aesthetic value.

Design Choices
Logo Design: Starting with the logo, the 'M' in moss green was chosen to symbolize innovation, set within a deep amber circle to represent the warmth and tradition of whiskey-making. This dynamic combination reflects the brand's commitment to blending the old with the new.
Colors: The use of deep amber and moss green creates a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity, reinforcing the brand’s narrative of evolving craftsmanship.
Typography
Font Choice: The Sans Serif font, Arsenal, was selected for its clean, modern lines. This choice conveys sophistication and professionalism, aligning with the brand's commitment to innovation while respecting tradition.
Positioning & Experience
Maguire Whiskey's unique aesthetic and narrative offer more than just a drink; they provide an immersive, artistic experience. The brand invites consumers to explore Dublin’s streets through each bottle, presenting whiskey as an artful expression of the city’s heritage and creative spirit. In a saturated market, Maguire Whiskey's distinctive identity promises to captivate discerning consumers, offering a premium, culturally rich experience.
UX/UI Design
